Brewshed scoops bronze and gold

Brewshed scoops bronze and gold

June 4th 2019       Beer, Brewshed, General News

We’re thrilled to have scooped two awards for our beer at the recent West Suffolk CAMRA Real Ale and Cider Festival held in Bury St Edmunds.

4,000 people visited the festival and voted for their favourite tipple from the 180 beers on offer.

Our Soulard, a 4.5% abv, bone-dry and refreshing saison with all the estery aromas of lemon-peel, bitter orange and peppery spice, took Joint Bronze in the Speciality category. Our Saturn V, a 5.3% abv, big IPA with crisp bitterness perfectly offset by huge mouthfuls of dank tropical fruits, lemon zest and pine, took Gold in the Strong Bitter category.

We’re really proud of our brewery team for producing such great beers. Pictured above are Andrew, our Brewery Manager, and Mike, our Head Brewer – they both love being on camera and in the press!

We asked them about the process of creating these two new seasonal beers. Andrew said ‘I love the way the Soulard turned out. It’s all worth the hours spent inverting sugar on the stove, leading to a really dry beer with plenty of fruity esters from the Belgian yeast’ and Mike commented ‘It was really exciting creating a new strong IPA (Saturn V) using punchy New Zealand hops’.

You can try both beers at our sister pubs The One Bull, The Beerhouse and The Crown plus other local outlets. Send us your pictures and let us know what you think by tweeting @brewshedbrewery.
